In each of the "link-enabled" applications you will notice a Link button. This Link button will be present in each of the applications where an entry can be selected. The Link button will initially appear in standard text but will be displayed in bold text when links exist for the selected entry.
Tapping the Link button when there are no links assigned to the current entry will immediately open the Link screen. Tapping the Link button when there is one or more links assigned, will display a pop-up list. The pop-up list will contain the list of links along with an option to open the Link screen. Selecting a link from the pop-up list will launch the appropriate application and open to the linked entry.
Link Button
Open the AddressLink application and select an individual name. Notice the Link button at the bottom. Tap it.
Once you have tapped the Link button, a Link Screen will be displayed. At the top of the screen, you will notice a pop-up list in which you can choose which type of item you wish to link to the currently displayed name. Tapping the Link button will save your links and close the link screen. Tapping Cancel will close the link screen without saving any changes you made.
Linking to Address
In the Link screen, when displaying addresses, you will notice a Lookup field in which you can enter one or more characters. Doing so will scroll the list to the name starting with the characters entered. Clearing the lookup field will cause the list to scroll to the very top.
Linking to Dates
In the Link screen, when displaying date book entries, you can scroll week by week to find the item you wish to link to. You can do this by tapping the left and right scroll arrows to move a week at a time. You can also select a specific date by tapping the date range selector and choosing any date. Dates are always displayed a week at a time.
Add Back Links
What are Back Links? Back Links are simply a link back to the current entry from the entry you are linking to. Let's imagine you are currently editting John Doe's address and you are in the process of linking Bob Smith to John Doe. Doing so will create a link FROM John Doe to Bob Smith. Enabling Back Links will ALSO create a link from Bob Smith back TO John Doe. Back Links are very powerful since the allow you to jump quickly to a linked entry and then back.
Show All Links
There are two icons at the bottom right hand side of the link screen. Tapping the icon with the row of several lines will change the link display to show All Links. This is a convenient way of viewing all of your links. When this screen is displayed, you can also uncheck items individually or unlink all items by tapping the "Unlink All" button.
New Button
Once within the Link Screen, you are able to create a new item and link directly to that item. Doing this will also automatically create a link back to the original item you where linking from.
